All Elite Wrestling is inspired by many other wrestling promotions. AEW is planning a big match between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada like New Japan. The last episode of Dynamite featured an eight-man “party match” that was straight out of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.
The annual Blood & Guts match is inspired by the WarGames cage match that was born in WCW. Of course, the overall style of AEW is so inspired by Ring Of Honor that Tony Khan bought that company and kept it alive.
Don’t forget about hardcore wrestling. Some of the crazy weapons used by Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, and even Adam Copeland evoked the spirit of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
As announced by @PhillyInquirer, AEW is coming to the 2300 Arena for the first time EVER!
From Aug. 27 to Sept. 11, Philadelphia’s historic venue will host a residency of #AEWDynamite and #AEWCollision, as well as @ringofhonor Death Before Dishonor!https://t.co/ikk3oeuNygpic.twitter.com/D6y93Nkcts

So it’s only fitting that AEW and ROH will be invading the old ECW Arena in Philadelphia late in the summer. In addition to episodes of Dynamite and Collision, the 2300 Arena (as it’s now called), will host the ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Sept. 5.
This is the second year in a row that AEW did a late-summer residency with several shows in the same arena. Arlington, Texas, was the host city, and the experiment was a success. Lucha Libre star Hologram started his undefeated run and was an immediate hit with the fans. Dustin Rhodes collected the ROH tag team title with Sammy Guevara and the six-man belts with The Von Erichs. “The Natural” still holds both championships.
Don’t be surprised to see a few cameos from ECW stars during this time.
