Rossoneri President Paolo Scaroni is optimistic that there’s “well over a 50% chance” of Inter Milan and AC Milan completing the new San Siro project.
Scaroni spoke at the Foglio a San Siro event, as reported by FCInterNews. He was bullish regarding the prospect of the stadium saga finally coming to an end.
Inter Milan and AC Milan are hard at work behind the scenes trying to build a new stadium.
That has been the case for literally years.
But there is a different feeling in the air around the project now.
There is a clear plan that the clubs are following. They are aiming to construct a new stadium that is adjacent to the existing San Siro, rather than outright replacing the iconic stadium.
There is still some way to go on the project.
But Milan President Scaroni is not hiding the fact that he believes that it could really happen this time.
Scaroni: “Well Over 50% Chance” Inter & AC Milan Complete San Siro Project
Rossoneri President Scaroni observed that “ever since I’ve been coming to this event, we’ve always been talking about the stadium, going on six years now.”
“We talked about it with optimism,” he said. “Then we became pessimistic.”
“Then we started talking about other projects than San Siro.”
“But then we ended up getting back to where we started,” Scaroni noted. “That is to say, building a new stadium here at the San Siro area.”
“We want to preserve the remains of the Meazza,” said the Milan President. He called it “a very important stadium for our history.”
“Then, we’ll do a lot of things with the area. The headquarters of Milan and Inter, and build a hotel, and many other things.”
Scaroni admitted that “I’m more optimistic today than I was last year.”
“Because this project is no longer just about Milan and Inter. It’s also about the city administration of Milan and the Mayor.”
“You’ve read the words of Sala,” the Milan President said, referring to Milan’s Mayor Beppe Sala. “He wants to give the city the stadium it deserves.”
Scaroni declared that “Milan is one of the great capital cities of world football, thanks to Milan and Inter.”
“So it needs a beautiful, efficient stadium.”
Scaroni cautioned, “I remain concerned.”
“Because I know how it is in Italy.”
“But if you ask me what the likelihood of going all the way and completing this project, I’d say it’s well over 50%,” Scaroni declared.
