It doesn’t sound like trading down is going to be in the cards for the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night.
Speaking with the media ahead of draft night, 49ers president of football operations and general manager John Lynch said that trading back is unlikely.
“I feel like there’s a lot of people trying to (trade back). Generally, each time everyone is trying to do the same thing, there isn’t a lot of opportunity,” Lynch told reporters.

The 49ers own the No. 11 overall selection in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. In addition to pick No. 11, San Francisco possesses a total of four top-100 draft picks.
San Francisco owns the No. 43 pick in the second round and picks No. 75 and No. 100 in the third round. The 49ers have 11 picks in total, including a pair of fourth-round choices, two fifth-round picks and a trio of seventh-round selections.
Lynch also said on Tuesday that the 49ers have given out 20 first-round grades as compared to 23 in the 2024 NFL draft and 15 in the 2023 NFL draft. Overall, Lynch said that San Francisco has counted 200 draftable players in 2024, which is up from 170 in 2024.
