The New York Jets had addressed some of most glaring needs with their picks in the first round and in the second round, but their third-round pick may have been the Jets looking for some depth. New York used their third-round pick (73rd overall) on Florida State cornerback Azareye’h Thomas, a player that could help the team when put into press coverage situations.

Thomas, listed at 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, is one of the taller cornerbacks in the Draft, but the name of his game is using his length to prevent opposing receivers from getting to where they want to go on the field. Cornerback wasn’t the most pressing need for the Jets coming into the Draft with Sauce Gardner locking down one side of the field and free-agent signee Brandon Stephens potentially starting on the opposite side.

With that being said, if New York wants to play a more physical style on the defensive side of the ball under new head coach Aaron Glenn, Thomas could be one of the players that fits that mold. Now that Thomas is a member of the Jets, here are some of his highlights to get you familiar with him as he seeks to earn a starting spot in the defensive backfield coming out of training camp:
