Philadelphia Eagles sixth-round rookie tackle Myles Hinton had an interesting upbringing leading into the start of his NFL career.

Hinton, the son of former All-Pro tackle Chris from the late 80s and early 90s, went to Michigan and became a key piece to their National Championship puzzle. Now with the Eagles, Hinton is looking to show that he has the kind of bloodline that the league is looking for nowawayds.

Speaking to reporters over the weekend during Eagles rookie camp, the 23-year-old Myles made it clear, though, that while the rest of the league watched his father excel on NFL Sundays, it took him a hilariously long time to figure out his dad was a star.

“I didn’t really know how good he was until I was like 13 years old,” Hinton said. “He didn’t talk about it much, but once I started really getting into football and playing O-line for real, really understanding what was going on is when I understood he was THAT guy.”

Having an NFL star as a father is never really easy. Even if you didn’t know about it until you were about to enter high school.

The interesting thing for Hinton, though, was that football was never forced upon him like other football fathers had done with their kids. It’s something that allowed Myles to develop his own love and appreciation for the sport.

“I commend him for sure,” said Hinton. “He did a good job of letting us find ball on our own. I love that about him, because I know a lot of people with dads who pressured them to play, and they have disdain for the sport. I’ve been there. I found it on my own and I think it fostered more love for the sport.”

Hinton won’t see the field early in his career. The Eagles are loaded across the line at this point. But if he is anywhere close to what his father used to be, Philadelphia can feel great about nabbing one of the steals of the draft.
