The Golden State Warriors had the opportunity to knock the Houston Rockets out of the playoffs in Game 6 of their first-round series on Friday. Instead, the Rockets blew out Golden State on its home court by a final score of 115-107, and the game wasn’t nearly as close as that score may suggest.
As a result, both teams will play a winner-take-all seventh game on Sunday back in Texas.
While the Rockets may be slightly favored to win, the Warriors pointed out on their official X account that Curry has performed very well in past Game 7s.
“Stephen Curry averages 32.6 points per game in Game 7’s, the fourth-highest Game 7 scoring average by any player in NBA history (min. three games)” the caption read.

Curry is perhaps the deadliest superstar remaining in the playoffs, but his play has been up and down in this series.
In Game 1, he had 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting, and in Game 3, he scored 36 points and dished off nine assists. But in the rest of the series, he has either mustered much fewer points than usual or has struggled to hit shots — or both.
But in a win-or-go-home situation, he is someone no team would love to compete against.
Just two years ago, he exploded for 50 points and hit 20 of 38 field-goal attempts in a Game 7 on the road in the first round of the playoffs versus the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors won that game, 120-100, before falling in the next round.
Now that Curry has Jimmy Butler on his side, one must figure he’ll have a little more juice to do whatever he needs to do to get his team a win on Sunday.
