The list of accomplished dual-sport Notre Dame athletes grew this week, as walk-on wide receiver Matt Jeffery won the ACC Lacrosse Freshman of the Year award.
Recruited as a lacrosse player, and a great one at that as he was a 5-star prospect and the USA Today National High School Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year in 2023, Jeffery scored 6 goals with an assist on 34 shots during the year according to Lax.com.
It has been extremely impressive to see Jeffery make an impact for the No. 6 ranked team in the country, one that is coming off back-to-back National Championships. As for the football side of things with him, heβs played in a few games this past season mainly on special teams, and had made some waves during spring practice.
Jeffery looks like he could make an impact at both sports this year, and that would be great to see.
