The Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers faced off Tuesday night in Game 5 of their first-round NBA playoff series. Indiana came in with a 3-1 lead, aiming to close things out and punch their ticket to the second round for the second year in a row.
Milwaukee came out hot, racing to a 17-point lead after the first quarter. But Indiana bounced back, outscoring the Bucks 28-17 in the second. From there, the game stayed tight all the way through overtime.
One of the night’s biggest storylines was Bucks guard Gary Trent Jr., who had himself a game—right up until a costly mistake in the final seconds. With Milwaukee up one and just 17 seconds left after a timeout, AJ Green found a wide-open Trent beyond halfcourt. But Trent lost the handle and fumbled the ball out of bounds right before the Pacers could foul.
On the ensuing possession, Pacers forward Tyrese Haliburton drove straight to the rim for a go-ahead layup with one second remaining, sealing a 119-118 win for Indiana.
The Pacers just clinched a first-round series win in the most improbable way possible.

Trent finished the night with 33 points on 12-of-25 shooting, hitting eight threes, while adding five rebounds and two assists.
Throughout the game, fans—and even injured teammate Damian Lillard—were praising Trent. Lillard showed his support with a post on social media, but after Trent’s late turnover cost the Bucks, he deleted it. Fans’ feelings quickly shifted, turning against Trent afterwards.
“SEND GARY TO GOD DAMN CHINA,” one fan wrote.
“Gary Bro,” another said.
“Thanks Gary,” added another.
“Yeah tell Trent to pack his bags,” said a fan.
“Trent Jt should be working in chickfilla,” wrote another.
“Gary Trent Jr giveth and Gary Trent Jr taketh,” a fan said.
