The 2025 NFL Draft came to a conclusion on Saturday, and the San Francisco 49ers were one of the teams that made the most picks over the course of the three days.

NFl.com analyst Chad Reuter recently named his favorite selections from each round of the draft, and two of the players he mentions are new Niners. The first of which is Oklahoma State linebacker Nick Martin, who was one of the team’s two third-round picks.

“I projected Martin to be a fourth-round pick for the 49ers in my final three mock drafts, but I can’t blame San Francisco for taking him a round earlier,” Reuter wrote. “He’s a perfect replacement for Dre Greenlaw as a short but explosive linebacker who works through blocks as a blitzer and tracks down ball-carriers in the open field.”

Some question Martin’s size at the linebacker position, as he is under six foot. But there are a number of guys in the NFL history’s who have proven that is not a problem, most notable among them being Hall of Famer Sam Mills, who was 5-9.

The other player that Reuter brings up is one of the Niners’ fifth-round selections, former Kansas State safety Marques Sigle.

“He always seems to be around the ball, partially because of the 4.37 speed he showed at the combine, but also because he has a good feel for coverage and is a willing tackler against the run.”

Sigle finished his final season at Kansas State with 60 total tackles and three interceptions, showing his versatility to be able to wrap up offensive players, as well as go get the ball when it’s in the air.

The 49ers had to part ways with a few defensive players this offseason, and their mentality in the draft was to replace those players. Only time will tell if they did it effectively.
