The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a painful loss on the road in Game 4, and are now trailing 3-1 in their first round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Luka Doncic has been one of the few bright spots offensively for the Lakers, putting up huge scoring performances

In Game 1, Doncic scored 37 points, but the Lakers suffered a 117-95 loss. He followed that in Game 2 with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists, leading the Lakers to a 94-85 victory. Game 3 saw a visibly hampered Doncic contribute 17 points in the Lakers 116-104 loss. But he bounced back offensively in Game 4 with 38 points, although the Lakers lost 116-113.

While Doncic’s offensive prowess has been great, his defensive efforts have been scrutinized throughout the series by some NBA fans and analysts, including the Ringer’s Zach Lowe, who had strong words for the five-time All-Star on his podcast:

“He’s just helpless defensively, off the ball too… How about you put up a fight in like game one. And now you’re down 3-1 and you’re probably going home.”

Lowe’s comments quickly led to Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison being the topic of discussion. Harrison, who has repeatedly uttered “defense wins championships” when asked for the rationale behind his Doncic trade, may be winning over some fans.

“So maybe Nico was right about Luka?!?!” a fan wrote.

“The more eyes on Luka and not just his numbers.. The less crazy Nico looks lol,” said another.

“Nico Harrison somewhere,” a fan added with a laughing gif.

“The world was too harsh on you Nico,” another comment read.

“Nico was right, just early,” said another.

“I agree, nico cooked,” claimed one fan.

“Nico was right,” added another.
