The Chicago Bears landed a versatile offensive tackle in Ozzy Trapilo out of Boston College with one of their three second-round picks in the 2025 NFL draft.

Trapilo spent his first two seasons at left tackle while playing for the Eagles, and he spent the last two years at right tackle, and that versatility will be useful for head coach Ben Johnson and Bears offensive line coach Dan Roushar.

Trapilo was asked where he feels most comfortable, at right or left tackle. Coming into the league, Trapilo said he’s willing to play wherever he’s needed, and put in the work coming into the draft at every position except for center.

The arrival of Trapilo should bring competition on the offensive line, whether it’s with Braxton Jones for the left tackle spot (along with last year’s third rounder Kiran Amegadjie), or if they move Darnell Wright to left tackle and the right tackle spot becomes an open competition. That competition is something that Trapilo said he’s ready for.

“I would just be ready to fill wherever is needed,” Trapilo said. “That’s the main goal, right? Get on the field as soon as possible, so that is kind of how I focused my training these last few months. I think I’ve done a good job with that, so I wouldn’t have a preference at the moment.”

With several new additions on the offensive line, Chicago has more talent and depth to work with as they look to significantly improve a position group that allowed a league-high 68 sacks on quarterback Caleb Williams last year.
