This was the kind of draft for the Raiders that would’ve made Al Davis proud. They got the most dynamic running back in years and seemed to emphasize athletic traits all down the draft, with seven of their eleven picks coming in with elite Relative Athletic Scores (RAS).

To put a finer point on it, even with the seeming best athlete in their class — Ashton Jeanty — they still had the 12th best overall RAS score in this year’s draft.

Leading the way is third round CB Darien Porter who had an eye-popping 9.99 RAS which is just .01 from a perfect score which only two players had (Nick Emmanwori and Shemar Stewart). This included a scorching 4.30 40-yard dash.

The next best actually goes to Raiders undrafted free agent TE Pat Conroy with a 9.98 which was tied for fourth best among this year’s draft eligible players.

Dont’e Thornton also came in with a 4.30 40 time. His height (6-4.5) puts him elite company, but he was hurt by a 33-inch vertical.

Third round guard Caleb Rogers showed supreme athletic traits for his position. He put him elite performances in vertical jump (34), broad jump (903), shuttle (4.49), and 3-cone (7.43).

Tommy Mellott was dinged for his height (5-11) mainly because he is listed as a quarterback. But his 4.39 40 and 41-inch vertical are both elite level.
