Former LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell is officially a first-round pick. The New England Patriots selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft last week.
Before the selection, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban praised Campbell at the ESPN analyst desk as he named the left tackle to his all-offense team.
“I just think so much of Will Campbell as a person and as a player,” Saban said. “I’m taking Will Campbell. I know him from recruiting him. He’s a great kid, and I think he’s a plug-and-play player.”
Campbell ranked as the top offensive lineman in the draft class for much of the offseason. He excelled in every offseason workout, particularly the NFL Combine, where he turned in numbers equivalent to Pro Bowlers Tristan Wirfs and Trent Williams.
While some analysts have been critical of Campbell’s arm length, Saban cracked a joke from his time coaching against Campbell at Alabama and emphasized how ready he is for professional football.
“It never seemed to bother him at LSU,” Saban said. “We never got a sack on the guy.”
