The Eagles are Super Bowl 59 champions, and as is par for the course, Jeffrey Lurie’s team will visit President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday afternoon. The US Sun initially caused mass confusion after the Super Bowl when it reported that Philadelphia team brass and some players had declined an invitation to the White House.

That myth was debunked, and the Eagles said they’d visit the White House if invited. On Tuesday, March 11, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the Birds will visit on Monday, April 28, two days after the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Following their Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots seven years ago, the Trump administration canceled the team’s White House celebration amid disputes over standing for the National Anthem.

With the festivities set to happen, here are five things to watch.

What time is the White House visit?

The president’s schedule will be officially announced on Monday morning, but the Eagles are expected at the White House in the late afternoon. The Chiefs’ last visit was at 4:30 PM Eastern.

Will Jalen Hurts and other key Eagles be in attendance?

The Super Bowl MVP was asked about the Eagles’ upcoming visit to the White House and was mum on the subject.

The Super Bowl MVP was at a Time Magazine event Thursday night, celebrating his inclusion in the 2025 TIME100 list, when he was asked directly if he would be attending the Eagles’ White House visit on Monday.

“Umm,” Hurts replied. Several seconds of silence followed before the reporter said, “Got it, thank you,” and Hurts walked away.

When did this tradition begin?

This tradition dates back to 1865.

Months after the end of the Civil War, former President Andrew Johnson invited two baseball clubs to the White House.

On Aug. 29, 1865, the Brooklyn Atlantics and Washington Nationals, two amateur baseball clubs, played a game just south of the White House on the grounds, according to the White House Historical Association. They met with Johnson at the White House a day later.

What’s on the menu?

According to Andy Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs enjoyed a menu of unique and creative dishes at the White House visit in 2023. These included French toast, grilled cheese and ham sandwiches, exotic chicken fingers, and bite-sized squares of watermelon heart.  The 2019 Baylor Women’s National Championship team feasted on McDonald’s. With the government looking to cut spending, we’ll be watching to see what’s on the Eagles’ menu.

Who’s going to be the star of the show?

In 2023, Travis Kelce had the audience in an uproar with laughter. Which Eagles will cause the most laughs or create a viral moment?
