Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard had some heated moments with Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton early in their playoff series, but the beef came to an abrupt end after Lillard’s devastating injury on Sunday.

The Bucks star collapsed to the floor early in his team’s Game 4 loss to the Pacers, suffering a non-contact injury that is feared to be a torn Achilles. If the diagnosis proves to be correct, Lillard would be looking at a recovery that could take him into 2026.

Haliburton and Lillard had some heated moments in Game 2 of the series, exchanging words during a stoppage in play. The Pacers star said after the game that it’s simply the result of a tense playoff series between two teams with no love lost.

“She told me͏ pregame, we don’t͏ ͏like them͏, the͏y don’t ͏like u͏s,” H͏ali͏bu͏rton said.͏ “It was clearly evident.”

Speaking to reporters after Sunday’s game, with Lillard facing a medical evaluation and a potentially long absence, Haliburton changed his tone.

“I want to send my thoughts and prayers to Dame,” he said. “What you see between us is competing, and you hate to see that happen, especially to a guy who’s went through a lot and he’s giving it his all to come out here and play.”

Haliburton added that despite the heated moments earlier in the series, he feels strongly for Lillard.

“It’s well documented the love I have for that guy,” Haliburton said.

The Pacers took a 3-1 lead in the series after Sunday’s win in Game 4, putting serious pressure on a Bucks team that will more than likely need to finish the series without Lillard.
