Apr. 27—DICKINSON, N.D. — The University of Jamestown softball team mounted a late comeback to get a 6-4 win over Dickinson State University on Sunday, April 27, at the Blue Hawks’ Bravera Field.
The Jimmies’ Kayla Quintanilla got the scoring started with a triple and then was brought home on a Natalie Draper single to make it 2-0 in the first inning. The Blue Hawks tied the game up with a two run third to make it 2-2. The Jimmies responded with two of their own in the fifth to take another two run lead at 4-2. The lead did not last or very long though as the Hawks punched right back with a two run inning of their own in the sixth to send the game into the seventh knotted up at four.
Thee Jimmies’ Draper reached on an error in the seventh that allowed two runs to score and the Jimmies to go up 6-4.

The Jimmies could not break through in a 3-0 loss to the Blue Hawks in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Blue Hawks (28-14, 14-6) opened the scoring in the third inning when Haaileigh Davis hit a single to score a run and take a 1-0 lead. The Blue Hawks added another one on a Brooke Lijewski single and then a fielder’s choice to push the lead out to 3-0.
Both teams had plenty of chances in this game with the Jimmies (32-15, 16-4) stranding seven runners on while the Blue Hawks stranded five runners on base. The Jimmies starter was Hope Ransome who went 5.0 giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out three and not walking anybody. She was relieved by her younger sister Laura who pitched one shutout inning giving up one hit while striking out one and walking one. The Blue Hawks’ Ava Jahner pitched a complete game giving up six hits while striking out five and walking two hitters.
The Jimmies will now have to wait to see who they play in the first round of the NSAA Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 1.
