All eyes were on the NFL draft on Saturday night when the Florida football program earned the commitment of former Baylor Bears defensive lineman Brendan Bett through the NCAA transfer portal.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 300-pound lineman originally out of Killeen (Texas) Ellison was a three-star prospect in the 2023 cycle and chose the Bears over the Colorado Buffaloes, Houston Cougars, Texas Tech Red Raiders, SMU Mustangs and Georgia State Panthers. Florida’s current defensive coordinator, Ron Roberts, was a part of Baylor’s staff from 2020-22 and played a role in his recruitment.

Bett started his collegiate career strong, appearing in 10 games with one start during his 2023 freshman campaign, amassing nine total tackles — including one for loss, a sack — and two defended passes. However, his sophomore season was marred by an injury, restricting him to just one game — Baylor’s Texas Bowl game against the LSU Tigers — before taking a redshirt.

The former Bear entered the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday and was on an official visit to campus Saturday when his decision was announced.
