Josaiah Stewart joins a great group of young pass rushers with the Los Angeles Rams following his No. 90 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

While he won’t have an instant impact as a starter, Stewart’s prolific collegiate career should help him develop quickly in the NFL. He’s also studied some of the best players at his position during their professional careers and tailored his game around players he admires.

So when The Draft Network’s Justin Melo‘s asked him ahead of the 2025 Senior Bowl which NFL players he compares himself most closely to, Stewart didn’t shy away from putting his name next to some of the best in the league. Stewart said he thinks his skillset is similar to Khalil Mack, Von Miller and Myles Garrett.

“I feel like I compare to Khalil Mack a little, especially early in his career,” Stewart said in January. “We play with similar violence and aggression. I admire his technique and his power. Von Miller has been another guy I watch and admire, of course. I’m a similar size comparison to Von Miller. The speed that he uses and his finesse, I’ve learned from that. He’s definitely a guy I’ve been watching for a long time.

“I added Myles Garrett to that list recently. He’s a freak off the edge with what he can do, man. He can really limit an opposing offense. You really have to account for Myles Garrett when he’s on the field.”

Those are quite the players to compare oneself to, but the lofty aspirational goals are a good thing for a young player. While Stewart is similar in height to Mack and Miller, he’s a lot skinnier than those two. He also isn’t nearly as massive as Garrett.

But from Stewart’s perspective, though, he has speed and the tools to make the move to the NFL similar to the players he mentioned. He tallied 30 sacks in four collegiate seasons — solid production that gives him good experience to continue in the pros.

Will it happen? That remains to be seen. Those three are some of the best in the business from the past 15 years, and Stewart hasn’t even taken an NFL snap yet. And considering the Rams’ current outside linebacker depth chart, it might be some time before Stewart sees a significant amount of snaps to put up the same stats as any of those three.
