Just when you thought things were nearly complete with the transfer portal when it comes to Ohio State basketball defections, word comes down that forward Sean Stewart has entered the portal.
Stewart came to Columbus from Duke through the portal during last offseason, so his time in the Scarlet Gray will amount to just one season, one in which he and the team didn’t quite live up to expectations. The former five-star recruit averaged 5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 18.4 minutes of play during last season. He appeared in 30 games.
The news adds to several players who have left Columbus via the transfer portal. Center Aaron Bradshaw, forward Evan Mahaffey, center Austin Parks, and guard Meechie Johnson also got sucked into the portal during the offseason. OSU has added Indiana guard Gabe Cupps, Santa Clara center Christopher Tilly, and Wright State forward Brandon Noel from the portal.
In the final hours before the transfer portal officially closes, #OhioState loses rising junior Sean Stewart to the portal after one season.

The spring portal window will close at midnight on Tuesday, so it’s unlikely we’ll hear any further news. Jake Diebler will now have to focus on the players that he has coming back to try and turn around a program that desperately needs a bounce-back 2025-2026 season.
