The 2025 NFL draft is just around the corner, and there’s plenty of buzz building ahead of the first round on Thursday. The Chicago Bears are sitting with the 10th overall pick, and there are several different directions they could go.
With the arrival of new head coach Ben Johnson, there’s been plenty of discussion about adding a playmaking running back to pair with D’Andre Swift, given the 1-2 punch Johnson had with Jammer Gibbs and David Montgomery in Detroit. Luckily, this is a deep running back group. But could top option Ashton Jeanty be Chicago’s top target?
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, there’s been plenty of interest in Jeanty — where he name-dropped the Bears (No. 10), Las Vegas Raiders (No. 6) and Dallas Cowboys (No. 12) — which could make for some movement on draft night. Jeanty only took three Top 30 visits this pre-draft seasons: Chicago, Dallas and Las Vegas. Which has Pelissero (and all of us) wondering: Could the Bears or Cowboys make a move to trade up for Jeanty?
“My question is: Does somebody, for a running back, decide that in order to get him, we’ve got to trade up above the Raiders to ensure that we get him.”

Pelissero noted that the Jacksonville Jaguars, sitting in that No. 5 spot, have a first-year general manager and could be open for business.
“If you’re Ben Johnson in Chicago or you’re Brian Schottenheimer in Dallas, and you’re thinking this guy could add a dimension that we can’t get any place else, is it worth it? Because it would be expensive to go up and get ahead of the Raiders.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that the belief around the NFL is that the Bears are “praying” that Jeanty falls to them at 10th overall. But with interest from Las Vegas and Dallas, who could decide to jump Las Vegas and Chicago would the Bears consider making a move to get Jeanty, assuming he’s their guy?
