Wisconsin football landed a commitment from three-star class of 2026 offensive lineman Maddox Cochrane on Sunday.

The lineman, who is set for an official visit to Madison, Wisconsin, on May 30, chose the program over top contenders Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Duke and Virginia. He also had official visits scheduled to each of those other four programs.

247Sports ranks Cochrane as the No. 769 overall player in the class of 2026, No. 65 offensive tackle and No. 17 recruit from his home state of Virginia. He becomes Wisconsin’s sixth commitment in the class of 2026 and the second offensive lineman. That group currently ranks No. 34 nationally and No. 9 in the Big Ten at this early stage of the cycle.

“First off, I’d like to thank God, my family, and my friends because none of this would have been possible without them. Thank you to my parents who have spent countless hours making sure I get what I need, whether it be rides to training and practice or cooking food or taking me around the country on visits,” Cochrane wrote on X. “Thank you to my current teammates who work hard and inspire me with their dedication to the sport. Thank you to all the coaches who have helped me through this process and treated me with nothing but kindness and respect. Thank you to my coaches back home for helping me through everything. Most importantly, thank you to all the coaches and staff at Wisconsin that took a chance on me and have decided to give me an amazing opportunity to develop and play at the highest level with them during my college career. With that being said, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be playing at the University of Wisconsin.”

Wisconsin’s recruiting efforts in the class of 2026 are heating up, with numerous top targets in town for the program’s Spring Showcase and the summer official visit season fast approaching. The program is looking for its third consecutive top-25 finish, a standing that will require a flurry of commitments from blue-chip recruits, something the program has yet to add to its 2026 class.
