In the event Alejandro Garnacho chooses to pull the curtains on his Manchester United career this summer, he certainly won’t be short of suitors.
It will, however, depend on whether INEOS’ reported £70 million price tag is met by any interested club.
TeamTalk claims that the current sides in the race to seal Garnacho’s signature at the end of the season are Chelsea and Napoli, who retain their interest from the winter window, along with Atletico Madrid and Napoli, both of whom are newfound admirers of the youngster.
All options provide the Argentine with the opportunity to continue plying his trade at the highest level in Europe, while moving to Stamford Bridge may prove something of a conroversial switch, given they’re a direct ‘big six’ rival in United’s eyes.
Chelsea set sights on Garnacho return in summer window
Napoli failed in their initial pursuit of Garnacho back in January when a proposal, believed to be in the region of £40 million, was swiftly rebuffed by United, who stood firm in their £60m valuation. The Serie A outfit opted against returning with an improved offer that month but may do so this summer as they look to sufficiently replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Similarly, when the January window eventually slammed shut, reports suggested Chelsea were confident they’d laid the groundwork for a summer swoop for the 20-year-old after holding talks with his representatives. At one stage, his agent was even spotted in attendance at Stamford Bridge, watching a game and prompting rumours to grow rife.
Garnacho has notched 10 goals and nine assists in 51 appearances this campaign. After initially enjoying a prolific start to 2024/2025, the goal contributions eventually dried up, and he fell out of favour to Amad – only properly restoring a starting spot when the Ivorian was sidelined with a lengthy injury setback.
