Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon laid out where he believes quarterback will and should land this offseason. The process detailed veterans, such as Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr, as well as the upcoming rookie class.

The New Orleans Saints have been connected to Jaxson Dart throughout the NFL draft process, with some believing he’s a better fit for Kellen Moore’s offense than Shedeur Sanders.

Gagnon believes grabbing Dart will be difficult unless New Orleans overdrafts him. It all revolves around Sanders’ fate. His reasoning puts in perspective that Shedeur Sanders falling in the draft is best for New Orleans’ pursuit of a quarterback. Gagnon isn’t deterred by Geno Smith’s contract extension. He still has “a gut feeling from years of exposure to this team. I just don’t think the Raiders will be able to pass him up in the No. 6 spot, regardless of Geno Smith.” Not many expect that to happen but it would make grabbing Dart at the end of the first round more difficult.

When detailing why Dart will end up with the Steelers, Gagnon said, “the Saints just won’t be well-positioned if the Raiders do what I think they’ll do.” Translation: picking Dart top-10 is too high, but he isn’t making it past the Steelers at No. 21 who are picking a quarterback in the first round unless it makes no sense.

Sanders falling to New Orleans gives the Saints a few options. They could obviously pick him or pass on Sanders then trade back up for Dart at the end of the first round if the Steelers pick Sanders. If Sanders goes at No. 6 there’s a slim chance Pittsburgh trades ahead of the Saints to get their last quarterback with a first round grade. Sanders being off the board before the Saints pick would simply force the Saints to aggressively pursue Dart. Taking him at ninth overall or making a massive leap from the second round to the first round would be what you’d likely have to do.
