Auburn is among three teams in heavy pursuit of the top recruit from Iowa for the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Evan Jacobson, a 6-foot-7 tight end from Waukee, Iowa, recently visited Auburn and came away impressed. In a recent interview with Steve Wiltfong of On3, Jacobson described Auburn as “comfortable.”
“Another great visit,” Jacobson said in an interview with On3. “It feels like I’m saying the same thing on repeat because everybody does everything so good. But Auburn I feel really comfortable with. It was my third time there and it felt more like we were just hanging out instead of being on a visit. It’s super easy to talk to Coach Ben (Aigamaua) and Coach (Hugh) Freeze.”
Auburn is in a great spot to land Jacobson. However, strong pushes are also being made by Wisconsin and Florida State. Jacobson visited both places last week in addition to Auburn and said that their use of the tight end in their respective offenses is a positive aspect.
Jacobson is a four-star tight end from Waukee High School in Iowa. He is the state’s No. 1 player according to 247Sports and is the No. 11 overall tight end from the cycle. He has not received a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports, but On3 gives the edge to Notre Dame with an 81.2% forecast from the recruiting prediction machine. According to 247Sports, Jacobson is scheduled to return to Auburn for an official visit on June 13. Hugh Freeze and his staff could make a splash this summer and boost the program’s odds of landing one of the nation’s best players from the 2026 recruiting cycle.
