It’s not common for tight ends to work their way into the top-10, but Tyler Warren could do just that. The New Orleans Saints are one of the early teams who could target the tight end. Teams are enamored with his mentality and his potential. FOX Sport’s Jordan Schultz reported, “Teams view him as ‘one of the cleanest prospects.'” So clean that they don’t even feel the need to visit with the tight end.

A team in the top-10 cancelled their private workout with Warren because they don’t need to gather any more data on him. “What are we really getting out of this? We’ve seen enough on him,” Schultz divulged. An executive told Schultz, “There’s not much to overthink.” That’s how simple of a prospect he is to some evaluators.

We often talk about when the tape matches the athleticism, but the character meeting those facets at a high point is valuable as well. That’s the case with Warren who “checks every box — character, toughness, intelligence, and he’s just scratching the surface athletically.”

Viewing a player as versatile and productive as Warren as barely scratching his athletic potential elevates his profile. It would also suggest narrowing his versatility and allowing him to solely focus on being a pass catcher could allow him to blossom even further. Warren led the Big Ten in catches and all purpose yards, so that’s a really good floor to start at.

Fully dedicating himself in the league to being a tight end would allow for him to master his craft before letting his natural athletic ability carry him to other positions
