The Kingston Frontenacs tied the series against Barrie at two earlier tonight with a 9-4 win on home ice. Vegas Golden Knights prospect Tuomas Uronen led his team, scoring a hattrick before the end of the second period.

“That was my first hattrick here,” said a smiling Uronen. “It felt pretty good, but the win is more important.”

Through four games, neither of the two teams has managed to pick up a win on the road. Barrie took the first two games of the series before Kingston responded with a pair of wins on home ice.

Their latest victory was spurred on by a dominant second period in which the Frontenacs outshot the Colts 23-4. The six-goal period transformed what had been a 1-1 tie into a monstrous 6-2 lead for the home team.

Uronen was the star of the period, scoring a pair of goals and an assist during the 20-minute frame. His confidence visibly grew as the period wore on, leading to increasingly dynamic offensive play from the young Finnish star.

“I thought he was fantastic tonight,” said Head Coach Troy Mann. “Through four games against Barrie, he’s probably been our best forward.”

Uronen and Frontenacs’ Captain Charlie Burns scored a pair of goals 32 seconds apart to create a 3-1 lead for Kingston within the opening two minutes of the period.

Senators Prospect Keeps Rangers Hopes Alive Senators Prospect Keeps Rangers Hopes Alive Last night, Senators prospect Luke Ellinas kept the Kitchener Rangers’ season alive by scoring all three goals in their 3-0 win over the Windsor Spitfires.

The Frontenacs continued to score during the period. Trade deadline acquisition Joey Willis got the monkey off his back, scoring his first goal of the playoffs. In seven games up to that point, he had only one assist.

“To get on the scoresheet was good, but I’m just happy we’re winning,” said Willis.

As a team, the Frontenacs forechecked relentlessly, stripping the Colts of pucks in the offensive zone and transitioning seamlessly from defense to offense. Their passing was much improved compared to game three, when they struggled to cleanly exit their own zone and enter the Colts’ end with speed.

“We’ve talked a lot about our breakouts all series,” said Mann. “I thought tonight we were a little more composed. When you get five guys back and make small plays und

Barrie appeared to have no response for the speedy Frontenacs. Star defender Kashawn Aitcheson fought Ben Pickell early in the period in an attempt to galvanize his team. Aitcheson got the better punches off during the altercation before skating by his own bench, imploring his teammates to find an extra gear.

Frontenacs Rally Late In Game Three To Win On Home IceFrontenacs Rally Late In Game Three To Win On Home IceFacing the dire prospect of going down 0-3 in the second round of the OHL PLayoffs, the Kingston Frontenacs found a way to win last night. They defeated the Barrie Colts 5-3 on home ice.

They never found that elusive extra gear, though neither did they say die. Head Coach Marty Williamson pulled the goalie early and often in the third period in an attempt to get back into the game. While Dalyn Wakely did score a power play goal with the empty net, Gage Heyes and Cal Uens scored empty-netters for Kingston, putting the game further out of reach.

Wakely led the Barre offense with a pair of goals in the contest. That line iof Wakely, Anthon Romani and Owen Van Steensel has been one of the few bright spots in the last two games for Barrie, accounting for four of their six goals.

At the end of 60 minutes, the score was 9-4 in favour of the home team. Kingston more than doubled Barrie in the shot department tallying, 47 pucks on goal compared to Barrie’s 20.

As the final horn sounded and the Frontenacs celebrated on the ice, their fans rose to their feet, crowing their victory in a raucous wave of cheering that filled Slush Puppie Place. The Colts will certainly be thrilled to return home for game five, which will take place on Saturday night. The momentum will likely be in Kingston’s court based on winning the last two games. However, neither team has dropped a game on home ice so far in the playoffs.
