Wisconsin redshirt freshman offensive lineman Derek Jensen entered the transfer portal on Thursday.
The Hartland, Wisconsin, native joined the Badgers as a three-star recruit in the class of 2024, ranked as the No. 32 interior offensive lineman in the class and No. 4 player from the state of Wisconsin. He was the Badgers’ top-ranked in-state commit in the class, plus the only of the state’s seven highest-ranked recruits to choose the program. Rob Booker, ranked as the No. 8 in-state recruit, also committed, though he medically retired from the sport this spring.
Jensen redshirted as a true freshman with the Badgers in 2024. He now enters the portal with four years of eligibility remaining.
The Arrowhead High School product is the fourth Badger to enter the portal since the spring window began on Wednesday, following tight end Tanner Koziol and wide receivers Mark Hamper and Quincy Burroughs. The program has one incoming commitment thus far: Southern Illinois quarterback Hunter Simmons.

Jensen leaves a Wisconsin offensive line room that recently lost starting left tackle Kevin Heywood to a season-ending ACL injury. The position group, especially left tackle, is guaranteed to be a focus as the spring window continues. The team did not land a transfer at the position in the winter window. After Heywood’s injury, a starting left tackle is suddenly the team’s top transfer need.
