The New York Giants will be selecting third overall in the 2025 NFL draft in Green Bay, but if things don’t shake out the way they hope, they can always make a move.

General manager Joe Schoen, speaking to the media at his pre-draft press conference in New Jersey, said the team has “received some calls” from other teams regarding a possible trade up.

“We’ll be open to all options,” Schoen said. “Those types of strategy sessions have been ongoing, and talking through different scenarios. We’re always going to be open to either/or of those scenarios.”

The Tennessee Titans will select first in the draft and, by many accounts, will take Miami quarterback Cam Ward. The Cleveland Browns have the second overall pick, and it’s anyone’s guess who they will take.

Depending on how those two picks unfold will determine how Schoen will proceed. He knows for sure he’ll have access to at least one of the draft’s top three players: Ward, Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter, and the Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter, of Colorado.

Schoen isn’t letting on the order in which the Giants have those players ranked.

“Still in the information gathering process. I always tell my guys, when we look at our board or free agency or values, we assume everybody sees it like us, and that’s not always the case. Still gathering information,” he said.

“There’s rumors of what teams may or may not do, but what we can control is, hey, come up with three players we’re happy with and rank those guys. If they don’t go in that order, they go in a different order, knowing who we like best of those three players, that’s what we can control.

“There’s still the rumor mill. It’s that time of year. There’s rumors everywhere. So have somewhat of a sense that I think will happen, but obviously I don’t know that for a fact.”

A trade is unlikely, though. The Giants are locked into a stud player at No. 3. Unless Schoen is bowled over by a team attempting to trade up with an offer that he can’t refuse, he is expected to stay in his lane and take what the football gods give him.
