This is the last daily waiver article for THN Fantasy this season. Thank you all for following along and reading this season. All the best in your playoff pools!
The recommended players and
goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be
selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Dylan Cozens, C, OTT vs. CAR (42% rostered)
If Cozens is not rested for this
game, he should see increased usage, potentially as their top center. He scored
two power-play assists against the Hawks in their previous game and provides
shots, faceoff wins and hits.
Evgeni Malkin, C/LW, PIT vs. WSH (41% rostered)
The Caps generally bring out the
best in Malkin, who has 81 points in 65 career games against them, including
three points in three games this season. Whether or not the veteran is
motivated enough to play well in a meaningless game, however, is a different
story, though it may be offset by some uncharacteristically poor defense and
goaltending from the Caps. In terms of streaming options for high-upside offensive
players, Malkin’s one of the best for Thursday.
Adam Fantilli, C, CBJ vs. NYI (32% rostered)
Fantilli scored his 30th goal last
game and he’s red-hot with a three-game goals streak. His scoring pace will
likely continue against a very bad team, with Fantilli scoring a goal against
them already earlier this season. His minutes have been somewhat limited
playing behind Sean Monahan, but it hasn’t hindered his production at all.
Will Cuylle, LW/RW, NYR vs. TB (30% rostered)
Cuylle’s a good option for managers
looking for hits and goals, though I suspect it’ll be a more subdued game than
usual since the Lightning likely aren’t interested in engaging in any
shenanigans as they prep for the playoffs. Cuylle’s on a four-game points streak
with five points and 14 hits.
Marco Kasper, C/LW, DET at TOR (16% rostered)
A strong finish to the season –
Kasper has four points, 13 shots and 19 faceoff wins entering Thursday’s game
against the Leafs – would cement him as their No. 2 center going into next
season. With the Leafs likely resting players, this presents some good
opportunities for Kasper to score points in a meaningless game for both teams.
Kasper has averaged over 18 minutes in his past three games and should get
ample ice time again.
Jackons Blake, RW, CAR at OTT (9% rostered)
Blake may draw back into the lineup
after getting some rest on Wednesday with the Canes playing back-to-back. If
Blake plays, look for him to play top-six minutes with power play, and he’s one
of the Canes’ more underrated scoring threats. He’s scored 17 goals this
season, six of which have come in his past nine games.
Matt Coronato, RW, CGY at LA (8% rostered)
Coronato’s red-hot for the Flames
with a six-game points streak heading into the finale. The Flames were
eliminated from playoff contention Tuesday but Coronato is auditioning for a
top-six role for next season – if he hasn’t been pencilled in already – and
will surely get plenty of minutes. The Kings will likely rest some top players
for the upcoming playoffs.
Conor Geekie, C, TB at NYR (1% rostered)
The Lightning are a veteran team so
they will likely sit out players or at least spread out the minutes to ensure
they’re fresh for the playoffs. Geekie is one player who may see increased
minutes, and he’s carrying a two-game goals streak into the season finale since
being called up from the minors. Geekie should be plenty motivated as he
auditions for next season.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi, C, CAR at OTT (1% rostered)
Assuming Sebastian Aho is rested
for the second straight game, based on the Canes’ Wednesday lineup, look for
Kotkaniemi to see increased minutes. He recently returned to the lineup after a
four-game absence, and the Canes will need to get him up to speed with the
playoffs right around the corner. Kotkaniemi is a low-upside fantasy player who
posts too many zeroes across the board too often, but the gamble is a spike in
production with more ice time and better-than-usual linemates in the top six.
Nick Robertson, LW/RW, TOR vs. DET (1% rostered)
Assuming the Leafs rest some of
their vets, Robertson will likely stay in the lineup and see increased minutes
to see if he can make the Game 1 roster for the playoffs. Robertson has upside
due to his offensive talents, but often gets limited minutes because of
deficiencies in the other areas of his game. In a meaningless game, Robertson
might get additional looks, and he’s coming off a game where he scored his 15th
goal of the season and extended his streak of having at least two shots on goal
to four games.
Alex Turcotte, C/LW, LA vs. CGY (0% rostered)
Turcotte had the good fortune of
filing in on the Kings’ top line with Anze Kopitar sitting out for rest. Should
the Kings do something similar and rotate other veterans out of their lineup
for rest, one of them might be Phillip Danault, which again opens up an
opportunity for Turcotte to skate with top-six wingers. His ice time will be
limited due to his inexperience, but he did manage a goal and an assist filling
in for Kopitar last game.
Darren Raddysh, D, TB at NYR (9% rostered)
This is a meaningless game for the
Lightning and the expectation is they will rest some veterans. Raddysh,
however, will likely dress, and his versatility allows him to potentially play
increased minutes. He played 17:52, the most in nearly a month, and scored a
goal in his previous game against the Panthers.
K’Andre Miller, D, TB vs. NYR (7% rostered)
Miller’s one of the players who’s
likely safe from an unexpected roster overhaul this summer. He’s finishing the
season on a strong note with three assists in his past three games and provides
a modest amount of hits and blocks.
