Wednesday’s baseball results: Green and STVM post run-rule wins

  • GREEN 11, CLE. VILLA ANGELA-ST. JOSEPH 1: Green’s Jacob Harrelson improved to 2-1 by throwing five innings, giving up four hits, three walks and no earned runs. Zach Pukansky and Kaden Gregory each had a pair of hits and two RBI for the Bulldogs (3-5) in the nonleague win.
  • ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY 11, CLE. GARRETT MORGAN 1: Sophomore shortstop Matt Englehart had a pair of singles and drove in four runs to lead the Fighting Irish past the Falcons (6-3) at the University of Akron. Matt Large earned the win on the mound and drove in a pair of runs with his two singles as the Irish improved to 4-3.
  • NORTON 9, FIELD 8: The host Panthers scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to improve to 4-2. Jordan Kievman hit two singles and a triple and drove in a pair of runs to pace Norton.
  • CVCA 6, PARMA HTS. HOLY NAME 2: Connor McGough (1-0) earned the win in relief for CVCA, as the host Royals extended a 3-2 lead with a three run sixth inning to make the score 6-2. Jonah Gaudio led the CVCA (6-3) offense with a single and a double and a RBI.

Wednesday’s softball results: Aurora rolls again

  • AURORA 16, COPLEY 6: The seventh-ranked Greenmen scored 12 unearned runs to improve to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the Suburban League American Conference.
  • REVERE 15, CUYAHOGA FALLS 7: Sydney Kreighbaum and Mattie Dieaz each drove in three runs as Revere improved to 6-2 overall with Wednesday’s Suburban League win. Revere pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of 8 Black Tigers (1-6, 0-4) errors. Tess Hodgen earned the win in relief by striking out nine in five innings of work.

Wednesday’s tennis results: Norton and Aurora take five matches each

  • NORTON 5, RAVENNA 0: Lincoln Russell and John Sisson closed out Norton’s sweep of Ravenna, taking their No. 2 doubles match 6-1, 6-0. The Panthers improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the Metro League.
  • AURORA 5, BARBERTON 0: At No. 1 doubles, Kade Morgaroth and Joel Fletcher and again at No. 2 doubles, Tommy Cogley and Connor Emrick, each swept the matches over the host Magics with 6-0, 6-0 wins. Aurora improved to 8-1 in doubles matches overall and 4-0 in the Suburban League.
  • HIGHLAND 5, CUYAHOGA FALLS 0: The Hornets took all matches led by Ani Katta and Sawyer Sulzner’s 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Highland is now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Suburban.
