Paul Skenes with his girlfriend Olivia Dunne last fall
Livvy Dunne is rating her boyfriend Paul Skenes’ skills on the field.
Skenes, a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was playing against the Washington Nationals in the series opener at PNC Park on Monday, April 14 when he attempted to tag out shortstop Nasim Nuñez during the sixth inning. On his way to third base, last year’s National League Rookie of the Year partially collided with Nuñez and tumbled to the ground, coming to a halt after a backwards somersault.
Dunne, a gymnast at LSU, was watching the game and couldn’t help but comment on his technique.
“9.8,” Dunne, 22, joked alongside video of Skenes’ gymnastics in her Instagram Stories.
“Slight deduction on the landing,” she continued in the caption. Despite the mini-collision, Skenes went on to finish the game with a win, and the Pirates beat the Nationals, 10-3.

The 22-year-old pitcher isn’t eager to do another roll onto the field anytime soon.
“It’s been a while since I’ve done a somersault,” Skenes said, according to Sports Illustrated. “I don’t know, I was probably three or four years old or something like that. Good neck mobility. I’ll attribute it to that, that nothing went wrong. Not ideal. I don’t want to do that again.”
The athlete and popular influencer has given her boyfriend notes about his gymnastics abilities before. In October, Dunne posted a fun video on TikTok of Skenes trying out the balance beam when he visited her at LSU where they first met as student-athletes.
“Rating our newest LSU Gymnastics recruit,” she wrote in the first clip of the video, which showed the LSU gymnastics champion — who announced last July that she’ll return for a fifth year at the university — coyly giggling into the camera before Skenes is revealed as the “recruit.”

The video went on to show Skenes attempting multiple gymnastics exercises on the balance beam and flipping into the foam pit. Dunne rated the pitcher’s first exercise a 6 out of 10, critiquing him for being “not very aerodynamic,” before adding that he’s “having fun though.”
Dunne continued to rate Skenes’ moves in different clips. The couple, who first confirmed they were dating in August 2023, finished their video with a clip of Skenes trying to pull Dunne into the foam pit with him. “8/10,” she scored the move, adding, “Tried pulling me in pit, being funny.”
