Norah O’Malley put on quite the performance on Tuesday afternoon to help the Dover High School girls track team to a season-opening Division I meet win at rival Spaulding.

O’Malley, a sophomore, placed first in both the 300-meter hurdles (51.83 seconds) and the shot put (25 feet, 8 inches), and placed second in the javelin (84-05) as Dover earned a 102-33 win at Spaulding High School.

O’Malley’s accomplishments earned her Tuesday’s Seacoast Standout of the Day.

Sophomore Norah O'Malley won two events, and placed second in another, helping the Dover High School girls track team to a season-opening 102-33 Division I win over Spaulding.

“Norah has grown so much as an athlete over the past year,” Dover head coach Nick Piatti said. “The increase of speed, strength and power has been huge. She worked hard over the winter to make that happen. We had a conversation on the bus ride over about being a multi-event athlete and (Tuesday’s) performance showed that. We’re definitely looking into a heptathlon for later in the season.”

O’Malley was ‘primarily focused’ on trying her best, and keeping a positive attitude throughout the season-opening meet.

“With recent injuries, and weather conditions I am very satisfied with how I placed,” O’Malley said. “Although I was initially hoping to run a faster time in the 300 hurdles, I have chosen to look at the race as an opportunity to learn and motivate myself for the future. I am looking forward to growing as an athlete and teammate this season, while reminding myself and my peers to have some fun in the process.”
