It took years and years of building for Allison Wenzell to reach this point.
She’s only beginning her third year with the Colts. But as each season has transpired, she’s continued to hold her own in net.
Tuesday, she reached a milestone many at her position long dream of.
Chicopee Comp girls lacrosse (2-2) fell to Hampshire Regional (3-1) by a 10-5 score. Regardless of the result, there was something to celebrate for Wenzell.
The junior goaltender reached her 300th save with the Colts as part of a 10-save outing.
Behind her highlight day, Chicopee Comp was guided by junior Molly Girouard’s three scores and a goal apiece from sophomore Mariana Ferreira and junior Hailey Viens.
The Raiders doubled up the Colts – in large part thanks to an all-around day from senior Mary Thibault. She accumulated three goals, six draw controls, five ground balls and four forced turnovers.
It proved to be a memorable performance from Thibault, securing her 100th career point in the process.
Backing up her production was sophomore Rylie Simmons and senior Emmie Collins, combining for five goals. Five different players in all scored for the hosting Raiders.
Chicopee Comp returns home to face Amherst-Pelham Regional on Friday at 6:15 pm, while Hampshire Regional commences a four-game road trip against that same foe Thursday at 4:15 pm.
