Tennessee junior Karlyn Pickens was named SEC and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Week Tuesday.

Pickens (17-4) won both honors for a third consecutive week. Additionally, she was named D1Softball Pitcher of the Week and Softball America Star of the Week. In three years with the Lady Vols, she has earned NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors three times, and Won 10 SEC Weekly honors.

Pickens, a right-handed pitcher and native of Weaverville, North Carolina, recorded two wins in Tennessee’s series against No. 1 Texas at Fred and Charlene McCombs Field in Austin, Texas. In two starts against the Longhorns, she pitched two complete games. She allowed two runs, 10 hits and six walks. Pickens recorded 20 strikeouts, while making three starts and pitching 15 innings.

She becomes the first student athlete to win either NFCA Pitcher of the Week three consecutive times. Pickens was also named SEC and NFCA Pitcher of the week after the Lady Vols won a series against Mississippi State at home. She also won both honors after Tennessee defeated No. 2 Oklahoma, becoming the first SEC opponent to win a league series against the Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma.
