“There’s no place like home.”

No, I am not talking about The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, or Kansas. I am talking about LSU baseball being back at Alex Box Stadium. LSU got back in the win column with a 10-3 win over McNeese on Tuesday night.

In the bottom of the first inning, Jared Jones got the party started with a two-run blast to put the Tigers up early. Jake Brown followed that up with an RBI single to make it 3-0.

In the bottom of the second, Jones hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0. William Schmidt started the mound for LSU on Tuesday night and was pulled from the game after 3.1 innings. He allowed two runs on five hits, four strikeouts, and a walk.

A two-run homer in the top of the fourth is what led to Schmidt being pulled from the game.

Connor Benge would enter to pitch for him as LSU held a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, Ethan Frey hit an RBI single, Steven Milam hit an RBI single, a run scored on an error, and Luis Hernandez hit an RBI single to extend the LSU lead to 8-2. In the top of the fifth, McNeese scored a run on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 8-3 and that led to Mavrick Rizy entering the game.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, LSU got that run right back as Derek Curiel hit a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 9-3. The Tigers scored again in the bottom of the eighth inning as Frey hit an RBI double to give LSU a 10-3 lead. Cooper Williams and Jacob Mayers would both pitch in the final two innings of the game as LSU got back in the win column.

With the win, LSU improves to 32-6 overall and 10-5 in conference play. LSU will be back in action on Thursday as the Tigers welcome the Alabama Crimson Tide into Baton Rouge. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 PM CT.
