Apr. 15—REDFIELD, S.D. — The University of Jamestown baseball team mounted a late comeback to get a 10-9 win over Briar Cliff University (Iowa) on Tuesday, April 15, at the Redfield Baseball Field.

The Chargers scored two runs in the top of the first before the Jimmies’ Ryan Muizelaar hit a three-run shot to take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the frame. The Jimmies added two more in the second to push the lead out to 5-2. The Chargers fought back with two of their own in the fourth to bring it closer at 5-4. The Jimmies added one more in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-4 but the Chargers kept pushing with a five run sixth inning to take a 9-6 lead.

The Jimmies’ Triston Madison started the scoring in the sixth with an RBI double to make it 9-7 before they added another one in the frame to bring it to within one at 9-8. The Jimmies tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh and then Madison hit a walk-off single to score Alex Alva and give the Jimmies a 10-9 win.

The Jimmies offense did not slow down in the second game of the doubleheader as they got a 15-4 win over the Chargers.

The teams traded runs in the first inning before the Jimmies (28-11) exploded in the third inning with Ben Patton putting the cap on a six-run inning to give the hosts a 7-1 lead. The Chargers got one back on a two-run shot in the fourth to bring it closer at 7-3. However, the Jimmies responded by scoring another six runs on five hits to go up 12-3.

The Jimmies took advantage of some erratic pitching from the Chargers in the fifth with both Madison and Isaiah Roebuck scurrying home on wild pitches to go up 15-3.

The Jimmies are back in action at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 18, when they take on Dickinson State.
