Everything you need to know to follow along with the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket
The 2024 college football season is in the books, and Ohio State stands alone at the top after beating Notre Dame 34-23 in the College Football Playoff National Championship. It’s the first national title for the Buckeyes under coach Ryan Day, who faced tremendous pressure at the end of the regular season before he ripped off four straight wins.
This also means that Ohio State won the first national title of the four-team College Football Playoff era and the first national title of the 12-team College Football Playoff era. It largely left a path of destruction in its wake to accomplish the latter, winning all four of its playoff games by at least two possessions. That includes a combined scoring effort of 83-38 in its first two playoff games against Tennessee and top-seeded Oregon.
Notre Dame deserves a nod for its effort, however. The Fighting Irish looked listless after falling behind 31-7 in the third quarter, but they went on a 16-0 scoring run and cut the deficit to just one score with just over four minutes to play in the fourth quarter thanks to two touchdown receptions from wide receiver Jaden Greathouse.
