With the Philadelphia 76ers out of the playoffs, now is the time to look at some former Sixers and look at the impact they are currently having on the 2025 playoff landscape. While some have had their playoff run, there are still former members of the Sixers competing in Round 2 of the postseason.
Buddy Hield and Jimmy Butler have turned into the new “buddy” pairing in the NBA as they lead the Golden State Warriors to wins. Despite losing Steph Curry after only 13 minutes, Hield stepped up for 24 points while Butler had 20, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in a 99-88 Game 1 road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Butler, known for his feisty competitiveness and willingness to do whatever it takes to win, has been holding Hield accountable in a lot of situations in Golden State. The former Sixers star and Hield got into it in the huddle during Game 1 on Tuesday and it led to a big performance as Hield responded in a positive manner.
Jimmy and Buddy were going at it in the huddle tonight.
No surprise they continued to go back and forth when they were asked about it postgame 😂 pic.twitter.com/WIPIWNkS3i

Butler played 55 games for the Sixers in the 2018-19 season before he left in free agency to join the Miami Heat. He led the Heat to the Eastern Conference finals three times including two trips to the finals before he grew disgruntled and forced his way to the Warriors at the deadline. The Sixers acquired Hield from the Indiana Pacers at the 2024 deadline before he left for Golden State in free agency.
