The NFL will release its schedule for the 2025 season May 14, at which point we’ll get the final word on when the Green Bay Packers are playing which games. But we already know a few details about what’s to come.
Here’s what we know and don’t know about the Packers schedule:
When will the Packers’ 2025 schedule be announced?
The NFL said it’ll announce the 2025 schedule for all teams, including the Packers, at 7 p.m. CT on May 14 on the NFL Network, NFL.com and its related apps.
ESPN will also air a prime-time special highlighting the schedule release at the same time.
Which teams will the Packers play in 2025?
Although the dates for the games aren’t known, the Packers’ 2025 opponents have been announced. They’ll have nine road games and eight home games.
- Packers home games: Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers.
- Packers road games: Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals.
How do we know the teams on the Packers schedule already?
- The Packers will play their NFC North Division opponents home and away, as they do every year — six games total (Detroit, Minnesota and Chicago).
- Each NFC North team will play each team in the NFC East and the AFC North divisions — eight games total (Philadelphia, Washington, Dallas and the New York Giants in the NFC East; Baltimore, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh in the AFC North).
- Each NFC North team will play the NFC South and West teams that finished in the same position in their division in 2024 — two games total (Carolina and Arizona for the Packers).
- Each NFC North team will play the AFC West team that finished in the same position in their division in 2024 — one game (Denver for the Packers).
Will the Packers play overseas, specifically against Pittsburgh in Ireland?
We know Pittsburgh is hosting a game in Dublin, Ireland, and the Packers are scheduled to travel as one of Pittsburgh’s opponents this year.
We don’t yet know the opponent for the Dublin game, and Packers president Mark Murphy indicated that he felt it was unlikely Green Bay would be the choice, since he believed the Steelers would “protect” that game against Green Bay and host it at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.
That would be an especially appetizing ticket if Pittsburgh signs ex-Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers — Rodgers hasn’t yet faced the Packers.
Aaron Rodgers and the other quarterbacks the Packers might see
All eyes are on a possible marriage between Rodgers and the Steelers, since that would put Rodgers on the schedule, stateside or otherwise. If not Rodgers, it’ll be Mason Rudolph, probably?
What about the other quarterbacks the Packers will face? Obviously, the divisional guys (Chicago’s Caleb Williams, Detroit’s Jared Goff and Minnesota’s JJ McCarthy) will face the Packers twice. It’ll be the Packers’ first look at McCarthy, the Vikings’ first-round pick in 2024 who was hurt all of last season.
The other quarterbacks that the Packers will face:
- Lamar Jackson, Baltimore
- Joe Burrow, Cincinnati
- Jaden Daniels, Washington
- Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia
- Kyler Murray, Arizona
- Dak Prescott, Dallas
- Bo Nix, Denver
- Bryce Young, Carolina
- Russell Wilson or Jaxson Dart, New York Giants
- Whoever is actually quarterbacking the Cleveland Browns
The Packers will have eight home games
This is the AFC’s season to host the extra home game in the 17-game schedule, leaving eight home games for the Packers. That means the Packers won’t be asked to play an international game unless they’re the road team.
The Gold Package for season tickets — historically, Milwaukee fans — will include the second and fifth home game on the schedule.
When will the Packers have a bye this year?
We’ll find that out when we find out the rest of the schedule. Last year, Green Bay was off Week 10.
Do we know how many prime-time games the Packers will have this year?
We’ll find that out when we find out the rest of the schedule, too. The Packers have played more prime-time games in the past 10 seasons than any other franchise, so it seems highly likely they’ll get assigned a few games under the lights, and certainly a game on “Thursday Night Football.”
Last year, the Packers played a Friday night game to kick off the season in Brazil against Philadelphia, then played four straight prime-time games in the home stretch of the season. That included two Thursday night games (one on Thanksgiving against Miami and one on “Thursday Night Football” the next week against Detroit), a Sunday night game against Seattle and a Monday night game on Christmas Eve against New Orleans.
The NFL will air a tripleheader of games on Christmas this year — it’s a Thursday.
How tough is the Packers schedule in 2024?
This is often a silly exercise because we can’t really gauge how teams will play using the previous year’s records, but the Packers would tie for the fifth-toughest schedule in the NFL using that metric.
Last year, it was the fourth-toughest overall and toughest in the NFC. This year, it’s tied for the “easiest” in the NFC North.
The Packers’ 2025 opponents had a winning percentage of .557, outranked only by the New York Giants (.574), Chicago (.571), Detroit (.571) and Philadelphia (.561). Minnesota and Dallas also have marks of .557.
What are the best games on the Packers schedule?
Aside from the obviously intriguing divisional battles, the Packers welcome in reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia, a squad that defeated the Packers in last year’s playoffs en route to the Lombardi Trophy. Perennial MVP candidate Lamar Jackson and the Ravens will also be in town.
A road stop in Dallas is always a fun time — for the Packers — but all eyes will be on that clash with Pittsburgh if Aaron Rodgers indeed ever signs to become their quarterback.
