It’s May, and that means it’s time for NCHSAA and NCISAA state softball playoffs to begin.

As we hop into postseason play, seven teams will represent Fayetteville and their respective conferences in the playoffs.

South View softball won their first conference tournament title in 20 years and were locked in at the No. 9 seed in the playoffs, while Gray’s Creek’s stellar season earned them the No. 6 spot. Cape Fear sits at No. 6 in the 3A East, and Freedom Christian earns a double-bye and the No. 2 seed in the NCISAA Division II playoffs.

Here are the top 13 softball players to watch in the NCHSAA and NCISAA playoffs. Statistics are from maxpreps.com.

Amari Adams, Cape Fear — The Samford commit was on point for the Colts all season. Adams is third in the 3A East in batting average (.649), first in runs (53), and sixth in on-base percentage (.688).

Victoria Bryant, Freedom Christian — The Georgia Tech commit shined as usual this season at the plate and in the circle. When pitching, Bryant has a perfect ERA in 36 innings in the circle, and is second in home runs with six, and fifth in RBIs with 30 on the season.

Maddy Clark, South View — Clark is ranked fifth in RBIs in the 4A East with 33 on the season.

Kaylie Cook, South View — Cook’s four home runs rank her second on the team, and she is the team leader in runs with 29.

Allie Dawson, Cape Fear — The Elon commit is No. 1 in RBIs in the 3A East (50), third in runs (45), and fourth in batting average in the classification (.649).

Paige Ford, South View — The former St. Andrews commit is fourth in the 4A East in home runs with nine on the season.

Savannah Graham, Freedom Christian —The UNC Pembroke commit is No. 9 in home runs with four on the year and sixth in RBIs with 30.

Amariya Green, Gray’s Creek — The UNC Pembroke commit has led the Bears in every way this season. Green is fourth in the 4A East in RBIs (37), sixth in runs (39), ninth in stolen bases (22) and has five home runs on the season to lead the team.

Asanthy Marcano, Jack Britt — The Bucs sophomore leads the team in multiple categories. Marcano is first in batting average (.507), on-base percentage (.576), stolen bases (24), runs (30), hits (37), and RBIs (22).

Rylan Miller, Freedom Christian — The Marshall commit ranks near the top in nearly all categories as the team and NCISAA 2A leader. Miller is second in RBIs (31), first in home runs (8), third in runs (34), fourth in strikeoutss (123), and second in ERA (0.26).

Jordynn Parnell, South View — Parnell, the Duke commit, is third in the 4A East in strikeouts (188), and also ranks 15th in the state, 14th in the class in batting average (.559), and 10th in ERA (1.70).

Hannah Welsh, Gray’s Creek — The former Limestone commit is third in the 4A East in ERA (1.03) in 47 innings pitched.

Savannah Winstead, Pine Forest — The Trojans’ best hitter ranks second in the 4A East in batting average (.634) and second in on-base percentage (.741).
